A dike hods back the flood waters. A dam is a barrier to a flood. It starts with a crack. The crack begins to leak. The leak leads to a drip. The drip leads to another drip, and another drip. The crack gets wider and wider. The drip begins to widen the cracks. The cracks break the dike witch bursts the dam. Now the drip becomes a flood!
